I am thankful for little kisses and nosies and tight squeezes from my boys.
Last Saturday morning, as Brad and I were preparing to leave for the football game, Connor came up and wrapped his arms around me. “I will miss you so much, Mommy.” He said softly.
“I’m going to miss you too, buddy. But I will see you tomorrow after lunch time.”
“I love you, Mommy.”
“I love you, Connor.”
This past weekend my wonderful mother-in-law and sister-in-law took care of our boys (and their 3 cousins who are the same age as my 3). The boys had a fun weekend ahead of them… riding in the combine and tractor, playing with their cousins, exploring the farm and playing outside. So the sweet, quiet display of love Connor showed me that morning was even more endearing since he was so excited about staying with Grandma CC and Aunt Kim.
Upon returning, as I walked into the family room where all the boys were cuddled up in grandma’s quilts watching a movie, Connor hopped off the sofa, “MOM!!!” He was the first one to give me a tight embrace! “I missed you!”
My heart melted.
When Ethan saw me, a big smile appeared on his face and then he went into crazy mode… he screeched with excitement and began running laps around the room. I caught him as he ran by and my little animal snuggled in to my neck and then wiggle-wiggled his way out of my arms to continue crazy time.
And Dylan… Dylan also lit up and hollered, “MOM!” when I walked in the room. But it wasn’t until I turned my full attention to him that he ran into my arms and gave me a big squeeze.
Nothing melts my heart as much as these affectionate moments with my babies. Each of them has a special way to show their affection.
I love hearing Dylan say (completely randomly) while riding in the van, “Mom, I love you.” I find it even more adorable when he says, “Connor, I love you.”
I love both Connor & Dylan’s unprompted hugs and snuggles. I love when Connor asks if I want to cuddle with him while they’re watching a movie.
I love when Ethan lays his head on my shoulder and snuggles in.
The best parts of my day are the moments I get to spend loving my boys. I love when they wake up and come looking for mommy to get their “good morning kisses and hugs”! I love tucking them in at night, laying in bed next to them as they cuddle up to me and tell me their favorite part of the day. I love the feel of their soft little noses as we share “goodnight nosies”.
