I am thankful for Sunday! Oh sure, I always look forward to Friday which marks the end of Brad’s work week and two full days of having him home with us. Saturdays typically hold house projects, scheduled commitments, or fun-filled activities. But there is just something special about Sunday!
About six years ago, Brad and I decided that we would honor Sunday as the Sabbath, a day of rest. Even if the yard needs mowed or piles of dirty clothes have engulfed the laundry room floor, we have chosen to briefly overlook these tasks.
Instead, we have deemed the day our “Relationship Day” or our “Family & Friends Day.” We start the day deepening our relationship with Christ. Then we devote the rest of the day to strengthening our relationship with each other, spending quality time as a family, or uniting with friends and fellowshipping together.
Some of our favorite Sunday activities:
- family lunch date after church
- picnic by the river (my fav Sunday activity)
- family nap time (this is Brad’s fav Sunday activity)
- family game night
- a movie night which often results in lots of cuddle time
- a trip to the zoo
- cookout with friends
And Sundays are our reward celebration days for the boys having good behavior throughout the week. Their reward choice often dictates the day’s events, but it is just fun! And I love that their hearts are so pure and happy spending time as a family.
I am thankful for Sunday because it is the day I get to spend with those I love most.
Let’s chat… What are you most thankful for today? Or… what is your favorite Sunday activity?
