I am thrilled to have guest blogger Holly, from Style from the Sticks, joining us today! I met Holly at a blogging conference in July and immediately liked her. As a mommy herself, she has a down-to-earth, yet super cute (and trendy) fashion sense! I have been enjoying her fashion tips and can’t wait to share them with all of you today!
Hi there! I’m so excited to be guest posting at Makeovers and Motherhood! Thanks for letting me be here!
Today we’re talking fashion. More specifically, what to wear as a busy mom. I know how challenging it is to put something together in the morning. You are thinking about getting other small people’s teeth brushed, breakfast made and hair combed. Who cares what you wear, right?
It doesn’t have to be stressful. I put together a few outfits for you based on some items I KNOW you have in your closet right now and created a venue for those outfits. I know how moms love their jeans so I kept you in your comfort zone. Each of these outfits start with straight leg jeans, which I think are really big this year. Skinnies are still in too for fall but these are more forgiving and have the same modern feel.*
Let’s start with outfit number one. This outfit is for running errands. Some days you will be caught in yoga pants in the grocery store check out. That’s just life as a busy mom. But let’s try to keep those days to a minimum! You are so much more than yoga pants! Pair this basic jean with a simple sweater. Add on a jacket in a fun print, a slip on bootie and a few accessories. No more embarrassment in aisle nine!
Outfit number two is for taking the kids to the park. No mom is going to wear her heels and push her child in the swing. If you do, that’s a new level of commitment to fashion I will never reach. So throw on your boyfriend jeans and white t-shirt. Everyone has those! Add on a pair of chucks, a sweatshirt that doesn’t look like a) you wore it in junior high and b) should have been taken out with the last week’s garbage. Don’t stress about the accessories but it’ll help give you a “I-thought-about-this-look” look.
The last outfit is going to the PTA or parent/teacher conferences or anywhere that means looking put together sans kids. Now is the time for your dark denim with a heel. Pair them with a cute peplum top or something trendy. A blazer is a must, it gives you instant authority. Wear a bracelet that will look great with no sleeves and keep the earrings simple.
I know you don’t have a lot of me time. But spending a little bit of time on yourself is an investment in your mental health. Your kids don’t want a frazzled, pajama pant wearing mom. They want everyone else to see the fabulousness they see in you.
