Thank you for attending my session, The Power of Authenticity, at Plaid St Conference 2019. I hope that it has helped you dig deeper into finding your purpose, power and passion.
To be perfectly honest… being authentic is scary. It can be ugly and painful because you’re revealing the real you. It means having to expose yourself to others, being vulnerable, mustering up confidence to speak the truth, and following your passion even when it’s hard.
As if that’s not enough, authenticity comes with a sidekick called “Imposter Syndrome” that will try to sabotage your self-worth, making you doubt your accomplishments and fear being exposed as a fraud.
But the truth is… none of us are perfect! That’s OK!
People are sick and tired of fake people. They need the real deal. They need authenticity. They need to see that they aren’t alone in their struggles. And that’s where the connection comes.
When I admit something like, “I feel like a Mom Fail” it resonates with other moms feeling the same way. They identify with the struggle and the feelings shared. Trust is built by speaking truth. And that’s what keeps your audience coming back.
When you clearly identify the WHY behind your message and begin speaking what is on your heart, it will bring new power and life to your words. Your audience will feel it. Brands will be attracted to it.
And that is why you’re here right now… to work toward developing a bolder, more authentic self.
Becoming truly authentic may seem scary, but it will build you personally and professionally when you realize the power that comes with it.

Remember that you have a story to tell. A story that no one can replicate, but that can be related to. Share it. Help make your audience become better versions of themselves by hearing it. You’ve got this, my friend!
