I participated in a campaign on behalf of Influence Central for TruGreen. I received a promotional item as a thank you for participating.
While we typically think of the ground as just lying dormant and frozen over the cold winter months, critters and bugs (still critters in my opinion) and lazy lawn care can actually cause damage to your lawn. For instance, last year we got to “enjoy” our leaves twice, once when they fell off the trees and again after the snow melted. Little did I know until reading Tru-Green’s Winter Lawn Care Tips, that I actually suffocated our grass! Great, now I can add “grass killer” to my resume!
Seriously though, I’m rather enthused about the whole idea of winter lawn care. <Insert manly grunt!> Here’s why it excites me…
We have a large fenced-in backyard with tall old trees framing both the borders and the sky and blocking out the rest of the world. It’s a miniature escape, our own little nature preserve. We just poured a nice big patio this fall and have a big playset for the boys to enjoy romp around on. I adore being in the backyard. Until… our 3 young boys set foot in it. Within minutes of being outdoors, they become muddy little creatures. Unfortunately our shady backyard means very little grass which means when our sweat-covered children tumble on the ground, they come up looking like baby hippos taking a mud bath.
The green that we do have in our yard is rather deceiving. At first glance you think grass. A second look will have you in tears at the grass to weed ratio. But hey, it’s green, right?
What I wouldn’t do to have a lush, weed-free lawn! While I do love to work in the landscaping, lawn care is not my thing. I tend to beautifying the house on the inside, hubby gets to take care of the lawn. So when Tru-Green presented me with their winter lawn care tips, oh baby, I realized I can have a pretty house inside and out!
What’s even better is that their tips are do-able! We already have 3 of their 5 tips checked off our to-do list!
Did you know that you can sign up for TruGreen lawn care service now so that at the first sign of spring, TruGreen specialists will already have you in the system and be out on your lawn before you might even know it’s time to begin spring lawn care?
